Anti-Human C-ERC/Mesothelin (22A31) Mouse IgG MoAb
ERC (Expressed in Renal Carcinoma) gene has been shown to be over-expressed in cancer-affected renal cells in Eker rats (a rat model of renal cancer). The human homologue of the protein is encoded by the gene MPF (megakaryocyte potentiating factor) or mesothelin.
It is predominantly present in the mesothelial cells and involved in the development of Mesothelioma. These facts make protein a promising tumor marker.
In addition, it has also been suggested that this protein is associated with the development of pancreatic, ovarian and pulmonary cancers, etc.
The ERC/mesothelin gene (MSLN) encodes a 71-kDa precursor protein, which is cleaved by furin-like protease to yield 31-kDa N-terminal (N-ERC/mesothelin) and 40-kDa C-terminal.
This antibody is specific to C-ERC/Mesothelin (40 kDa fragment).
