Jo-1-Ab ELISA
Enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative and quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against Jo-1 in human serum. Inflammatory muscle disorders of unknown aetiology occur in different variants which can be well distinguished from each other by means of specific autoantibodies. About 30 % of all myositis patients bear antibodies against Jo-1. This antigen is the enzyme histidyl-tRNA synthetase, a 100 kDa dimer located in the cytoplasma. The term Jo-1 (or anti-synthetase)-syndrome comprises the symptoms of polymyositis, polysynovitis and fibrosing alveolitis. For these symptoms, Jo-1 antibodies possess a high predictive value (> 95 %).
