Endothelial Lipase ELISA
Endothelial lipase (EL) is a member of the triacylglyceride lipase family, which is synthesized by vascular endothelial cells. Experiments in laboratory mice with a disrupted native EL locus as well as in transgenic mice overexpressing human EL have revealed an inverse relationship between the plasma High-Density-Lipoprotein-Cholesterol (HDL-C) level and EL expression. Also, previous studies have shown that plasma EL mass was inversely associated with HDL-C concentrations in humans. Based on these observations, EL is expected to be an attractive pharmacological target for raising HDL-C levels and preventing atherosclerosis.
This ELISA kit can measure concentration of EL in serum or plasma samples regardless of heparin administration.
