Insulindepositsglucoseandpromotesthesynthesisofproteinsinskeletalmuscles.Italsohasphysiologicalfunctionsuchassuppressinggluconeogenesisinliverandithasbeenknownastheonlyhormonethatcandecreasebloodglucose.
Insulinisconstantlyreleasedtomaintainthelevelofbloodglucose,whileitisalsoreleasedinlargeamountsuponincretinstimulationandhighglucoselevelstosuppressquicklyincreasedbloodglucoseafterameal.
