Thepresentmethodisbasedonacompetitiveradioimmunoassay(RIA).Duringtheincubation,thesample/calibratoraldosteronecompeteswiththealdosteronelabeledwithIodine125(tracer)forthespecificsitesoftheantiserumcoatedonthetubes.Separationisbasedontheuseofantibodycoatedtubes,wheretheanti-aldosteroneantiserumisfixedonthetubewalls.Afteraspiration,theradioactivityinthetubesismeasuredinagammacounter.Thedegreeofbindingwillbeinverselyproportionaltothesample/calibratorhormoneconcentration.
