TheCCP-AbELISAisusedforthequantitativedeterminationofIgGantibodiesagainstcycliccitrullinatedpeptides(CCP)inhumanseraorplasma.RheumatoidArthritis(RA)ismostoftendiagnosedbythemeasurementofrheumatoidfactors(RF).TherheumatoidfactorisanantibodydirectedagainsttheFc-regionofIgG.ItappearsmainlyasIgMantibodybutalsoasIgAorIgGsubgroup.Rheumatoidfactorsarepresentinseraof70-80%ofpatientssufferingfromrheumatoidarthritis.ButitisnotspecificforRAsinceitwillalsobefoundinhealthypersons.Theincidencedependsontheage:foryoungpeopleitis1-4%,forolderpersonsitmayreachupto25%.TheadvantageofCCPantibodiesisahighersensitivityandspecificityforthediagnosisofrheumatoidarthritisincomparisontotherheumatoidfactorsalone.Anti-CCPisoftenfoundataveryearlystateofthediseaseandithasahighpredictivevaluefordevelopmentofthedisease.
